Chane ki Dal ki Chutney

 

Ingredients

  • 2 cups gram dal (chana dal)
  • 1 tsp. mustard (rai)
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • A pinch of asafoetida (heeng)
  • 0.5 tsp. red chilli ground
  • 2 green chillies finely chopped
  • juice of 2 lemons
  • 5 tbsp. oil salt to taste
  • 2 dry red chillies (lal mirch)
  • 1 tbsp. green coriander (hara dhania) finely chopped

Method

Heat 3 tbsp. oil in a kadahi. Fry chane ki dal till golden brown. Remove and grind it coarsely.

Heat the remaining oil in the same kadahi. Fry rai, curry leaves, heeng and dry lal mirch. Add ground dal and one cup of water.

Add lal mirch powder, hari mirch, namak and hara dhania. Cook till it is thick. Remove.

When cool, sprinkle lemon juice over it and serve.
