Imli ki Chutney

 

Ingredients

Quantity: 6 cups (Appx.)

  • 200 gms. tamarind (imli)
  • 200 gms. jaggery (gur)
  • 1 tsp. black salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper (kali mirch)
  • 1 tsp. red chilli (lal mirch) powder
  • 1 tsp. brown cardamom (bari ilaichee) ground
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds (jeera) baked and ground
  • 3 cups boiling water

Method

Soak imli in boiling water for an hour. Extract its juice. Sieve and keep aside.

Pour imli juice in a sauce pan. Add mashed gur, kala namak, kali mirch, ilaichee and lal mirch powder.

Put the pan on low heat. Cook, while stirring occasionally.

When the chutney thickens remove the pan from heat.

Let the chutney cool, mix jeera and serve.
