MOISTURIZING—THE LANDMARK OF GOOD SKIN CARE

Moisturizing forms a barrier between the skin and environmental conditions. Moisturizer helps to form a fine, protective layer that enables the skin to retain the moisture it requires. Moisturizing is essential for all types of skin, including oily skin. Dry skin and ageing skin derive the maximum benefits from a moisturizer. Lack of moisture on the skin causes the skin to become dry and more prone to wrinkling.
Moisturizers come in two forms—liquid and cream. Rich, liquid and cream moisturizers take care of dry and wrinkled skin. A water-based, oil-free moisturizer works best for oily skin. Herbal moisturizers are very light. They not only help to protect the skin but also assist in evaporating excess moisture.
Ideally, moisturizers are applied after thorough cleansing and toning of the skin. Moisturizer may be used before makeup to serve as a protective base. Use a moisturizer of light consistency, as it will assist makeup to hold better. For dry skin, apply a moisturizer even under a face pack. At night, dry skin requires a heavier moisturizer to feed the skin.
An excellent moisturizer protects skin from premature ageing due to sunlight and is a good occluder for depleting moisture balance. Apply extra moisturizer on the forehead, the centre of brows and all over the neck.
