Tamatar ki Chutney

 

Ingredients

Quantity: 1.5 kgs. (Appx.)

  • 1 kg. tomatoes ripe and firm
  • 4 cloves garlic (lahsun)
  • 1 tsp. red chilli ground
  • 1 tsp. turmeric (haldi) powder
  • 1 tsp. mustard (rai)
  • 2 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 4 tbsp. sugar
  • 8 green chillies
  • 2 cups vinegar (sirka)
  • 0.75 cup black mustard oil (sarson ka tel)
  • 2.5 tsp. salt

Method

Dip tomatoes in boiling water for a minute and remove. Peel and whip thoroughly.

Coursely grind rai and jeera.

Heat oil. Add lahsun, hari mirch, rai and jeera.

Cook the whipped tomatoes after 10 seconds.

After 3 minutes add sirka, sugar, salf and all the other masalas. Cook, while stirring all the time.

When oil separates from the chutney, switch off the heat.

Cool and store in a refrigerator.

This chutney can be preserved for a few days only.
